01What the app does with your camera

Catslator requests access to your device's camera to analyze cat body language in real time. Camera access is used solely to power the live interpretation feature.

• No frames are recorded. The video stream is processed in memory, frame by frame, and immediately discarded. Nothing is written to disk, iCloud, or any external server.
• No images leave the device. All computer vision processing (Apple's Vision framework, 25-joint body pose detection) happens entirely on your iPhone.
• Camera permission is optional. You can use the Reference Library and review your session history without granting camera access.

You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings → Catslator → Camera.

02Data stored on your device

Catslator stores a small amount of data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is not synced to iCloud or any cloud service.

Session history

Each camera session creates a record containing:

• Session start and end timestamps
• Per-interpretation records: emotion label, confidence score, plain-text description, advice text, and the semantic body language signal string (e.g., "tail raised, ears forward") that the AI received as input

No camera frames, images, or biometric data are part of this record.

Daily usage counter

The free-tier daily limit (5 interpretations per day) is tracked using a counter stored in your device's Keychain. This counter is stored locally, contains no personal information, and exists solely to enforce the usage limit. It survives app reinstallation to prevent abuse of the free tier.

App preferences

Your scan frequency preference is stored locally via iOS UserDefaults. No personal information is included.

Deleting your data

You can delete all session history at any time from Settings → Data → Clear All History within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all SwiftData records from your device.

03On-device AI processing

Catslator uses two Apple-provided AI frameworks, both of which run entirely on your device:

• Apple Vision — detects cat body pose joints from the camera feed. Runs on your device's Neural Engine. No data is sent to Apple or any third party as part of this processing.
• Apple Foundation Models — an on-device large language model that interprets the detected body language and generates the emotion card. This model runs locally. No prompts, no inputs, and no outputs are transmitted off-device.

There are no external AI API calls in the app. Catslator's cloud API cost is $0 by design — not as a cost-cutting measure, but as a privacy guarantee.

04Purchases and subscriptions

Catslator offers optional in-app purchases (a weekly Pro subscription and a lifetime purchase) processed through Apple's StoreKit 2. All payment handling is managed entirely by Apple.

• We do not collect, see, or store your payment card information
• We receive only a confirmation of purchase status from Apple — no financial details
• Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Apple ID settings

05No personal information collected

Catslator does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. Specifically:

• No account or registration is required
• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
• We do not collect location data
• We do not collect device identifiers for tracking purposes
• We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework — there is nothing to request permission for

Because we collect no personal information, there is no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete beyond the local session history described in Section 2.

06Analytics and tracking

Catslator contains no advertising and no behavioral tracking or profiling for marketing purposes.

We use Google Analytics to understand how the app and website are used — for example, which features are used most, overall session counts, and crash patterns. Google Analytics is configured to collect anonymous, aggregated data and does not identify individual users. We do not use it to build personal profiles or serve targeted ads.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. You can review it at policies.google.com/privacy. On iOS, analytics collection is subject to your App Tracking Transparency choice and iOS system settings.

A local log file is also written to your device's Documents folder (cattalk.log) for debugging purposes. This file stays on your device and is never sent automatically. You can export it voluntarily from Settings → Debug → Export Logs when reporting a bug.

07Privacy of children

Catslator is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from any user, it presents no specific risk to younger users, but parental guidance is still advised for in-app purchases.

08Links to other resources

The app's Settings screen includes links to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Use, opened via in-app Safari. These links point to pages on nvklabs.com, which is a static website that does not use cookies or collect visitor data beyond standard server access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) used solely for security monitoring.

09Changes and amendments

If we update this Privacy Policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will notify users via an in-app notice. Because we collect no personal information, changes to this policy will not affect any data we hold about you — there is none.

Your continued use of Catslator after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
